Bettye Nabors passed away early January 10, 2016 in Big Spring, Texas.
She was born Bessie Laverne Franks January 23, 1930 in Erath County, Texas. Her mother and father were John and Bessie Franks and her three sisters, Vera, Wynn and Mary.
Bettye married Gene Nabors in Stephenville in 1946 and soon after they moved to Big Spring. Gene Nabors and Bettye had two children, Paul and Rachel.
Bettye and Gene traveled the world together.
Gene preceded her in death July 4, 1994.
In later years she married Al Green of Lubbock, Texas who was an old high school classmate of hers, and Bennett Brooke of Lakeway, Texas. Bennett and his family lived next door to the Nabors on Dallas Street and were godparents to the Nabors children.
Bettye loved to travel and read, and was an excellent cook.
She also enjoyed baking and shared her awesome homemade bread with friends and family at Christmas time.
She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Big Spring.
Bettye was very compassionate and intuitive and always had time to stop and listen and to help whenever the need arose. She will be remembered as a great lady by her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Paul Nabors and wife, Patti of Big Spring and her daughter, Rachel; her three grandchildren, Evan Nabors and wife, Stephanie of Marysville California, Amanda Williams and husband, Steven of Levelland, and Nina Marquez of Big Spring.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, January 14, 2016 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorials to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 1001 Goliad, Big Spring, Texas 79720 or to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 866-232-8484.
