Funeral services for Charles Wayne Zachary, age 86 of Mt. Vernon, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Pepper Puryear officiating. Burial will follow at Cypress Cemetery with Glen Zachary, Richard Zachary, Jim Zachary, Fred Zachary, Gary Kump, and Clint Brasher serving as pallbearers. Bob Zachary, Mike Zachary and the Jack Henry Sunday School class will serve as the honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2013.

Mr. Zachary died on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at ETMC in Mt. Vernon. He was born on June 12, 1927, in Franklin County to Ollie and Rosa Gossett Zachary. He served in active duty in the Navy during WWII from August 1945 to August 1946. He married Maxine Autrey in Winfield, Texas on June 14, 1947. He worked for Swepco for 43 years, retiring as a Senior Chemist in 1992.

Mr. Zachary is survived by his wife, Maxine, of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Susan Wienefeld, and husband, Ed, of Coppell; daughter, Linda Kump, of Winnsboro; grandson, Gary Kump, and wife, Katie, of Pittsburg; granddaughter, Karen Brasher, and husband, Clint, of Lindale; great grandchildren, Caden and Hadley Kump; brothers: Bob Zachary of Winnsboro, Glen Zachary of Mt. Vernon, Richard Zachary of Winnsboro, and Jim Zachary of Flint; sisters, Nadine Harwell of Queen City, Leta Argenbright of Emory, Jerrie Sue Mayfield of Longview, and Joan Burgess of Sherman.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Don Zachary, of Pittsburg.

Etta Maxine Zachary, age 85, of Mount Vernon, passed away in the mid-morning hours of Friday, August 29, 2014 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. Maxine was born July 18, 1929 in Franklin County, Texas to the late George Dewey and Essie Cleo Joyner Autrey. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School.Maxine married the love of her life and best friend, Charles Wayne Zachary, on June 14, 1947 in Winfield, Texas. Together they spent the next 66 plus years raising a family and living a lifetime of memories. He preceded her in death on November 17, 2013.Maxine worked as a library aide for the Mount Pleasant Independent School District. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon and the Gleaner’s Sunday School Class. Maxine enjoyed cooking and tending to her garden but those who knew her best will always remember her unwavering love for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Maxine was a faithful servant of the Lord, a tremendous lady, and an even better mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.Maxine is survived by two daughters, Susan Wienefeld, and husband Ed, of Coppell and Linda Kump of Winnsboro; grandchildren, Gary Kump, and wife Katie, of Pittsburg and Karen Brasher, and husband Clint, of Lindale; great-grandchildren, Caden and Hadley Kump; brother, Charles Autrey of Magnolia, Arkansas; and two sisters, Mary Ruth Connelly of Spearman, Texas and Helen Shelby of Winnsboro, Texas.Services for Maxine Zachary will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon with Pastor Pepper Puryear officiating. Burial will follow at Cypress Cemetery with Gary Kump, Clint Brasher, Wayland Lain, Raymond Lain, Ronney Gilbreath, and Ryan Gilbreath serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cypress Cemetery or a charity of your choice. -
