DONNA, TX - Ninfa Gonzales, 61, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at Solara Hospital in Harlingen. Born in Mercedes, Mrs. Gonzales lived in Donna and was formerly of Weslaco. She was a member of San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Weslaco and was retired from Weslaco ISD after 37 years of service as a 4th grade teacher.
She is preceded in death by a son, Joel Gonzales; a brother, Jose De Jesus Hernandez; and a sister, Margarita Hernandez.
Mrs. Gonzales is survived by her husband Roberto Gonzales, of Donna; two sons, Roberto (Monica) Gonzales Jr., of Victoria, Manuel (Jessica) Gonzales, of Donna; five grandchildren, Michael, Melanie, Selima, Joel, and Anaya; her parents, Salvador and Maria De Jesus Hernandez, of Mercedes; and ten brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 9 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Weslaco. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Pallbearers will be Antonio Hernandez, Johnathan Hernandez, Justin Hernandez, Ronnie Cavazos Jr., Salvador Hernandez and Ramiro Garza Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Salvador Hernandez Jr. and Jose Trevino.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
