W.M. (Bill) Wisdom, 85, of Medicine Mound, Texas died Thursday February 25, 1999 in Wichita Falls, Texas following a brief illness. William was born October 29, 1913 at the family farm south of Thalia, Texas to A.B. and Lillie Dora Wisdom. He married Pauline Grimsley on November 25, 1933 in Frederick, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on May 1, 1996. William attended Thalia school until he was "encouraged" to transfer to Crowell to play on their State Champion basketball team by legendary coach Grady Graves. William was a retired farmer and a deacon of the First United Methodist Church in Quanah, Texas. He was a 60-year member of the Quanah Masonic Lodge, Maskat Temple, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite of Fort Worth, York Rite College of Lubbock, Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priest of Dallas, Red Cross Constantine of Wichita Falls, past Sovereign of Red Cross and a 50-year member of the Thalia Masonic Lodge. He received the Golden Trowel Award from the Quanah Lodge and the Excalibur Award of the Vernon Commandery. William was known as a good neighbor, an honest man and an outstanding farmer, being named Conservation Farmer of the Year for Hardeman County. He was a craftsman building many items to simplify work and other items just for fun. He had a beautiful farm and kept every inch immaculate with a fresh coat of paint. He is survived by a daughter-Phyllis Ann of Medicine Mound; two sons-Don William of Boulder, Colorado and Billy Burton of Greenville; five brothers-Jake and Frank, both of Thalia, Texas, Lew of Lawton, Oklahoma, Beecher of Safford, Arizona and Doc of Escondido, California; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Quanah with Rev. Jesse Dea officiating with burial in Eastview Cemetery in Vernon, Texas. Pallbearers were Rockne Wisdom, Randy Akers, Felix Taylor, Joe Coufal, Bob Melear and L.O. Whitfield.

Reba Pauline Grimsley Wisdom passed away on November 11, 1996. She was born May 4, 1914 in Cooke County, Texas, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Grimsley. She was a graduate of Thalia High School in Thalia, Texas. She married William May Wisdom November 25, 1933 in Frederick, Oklahoma. She was a longtime resident of Medicine Mound, Texas where she and her husband, William, worked the family farm. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Quanah, Texas. Pauline was an organizer and everything she owned was carefully boxed and labeled. She and William's farm was a showplace with everything in its place. Pauline was a sweet woman, devoted to her family and church. She is survived by her husband, William of the home; one daughter, Phyllis Ann of Medicine Mound; two sons, Don and wife Ginger of Boulder, Colorado and Billy and wife, Vickie of Greenville, Texas; 5 granddaughters and 2 grandsons and several great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Tommie Patterson.
