Shares stone with Betty Hamilyon
R.D. Hamilton, age 68, passed away Sunday at his home in Electra. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Church of God in Electra with Rev. J.W. McNeese, retired Church of God minister from Burkbur-nett officiating. Assisting was Rev. Bob Bohannon. Burial was in Electra Memorial Park.
Mr. Hamilton was born May 20, 1925 in Turkey, Texas and had been a resident of Electra for the past 26 years, moving here from Wichita Falls. He was a member of the Church of God in Electra and the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union #389 in Wichita Falls. Mr. Hamilton was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Ex-prisoners qf War. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II with Company 1, 357th Infantry. He was captured by the enemy on July 7, 1944 in Normandy, where he was taken to a German Prison Camp and held until liberated by the 9th Armored Division on April 17, 1945. For his service he received the Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Stars. Mr. Hamilton and Betty Montgomery were married on March 26, 1948 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Electra; one daughter and son-in-law, Jana and Joe Thompson of Granbury, Texas; 6 brothers, Sam Hamilton of Burkburnett, Texas; Wesley Hamilton of Houston, Texas; Arthur Hamilton, I.F. Hamilton and J.E. Hamilton, all of Lubbock, Texas and Walter Hamilton of Mexica, Texas; two sisters, Ida Freman of Wichita Falls, Texas and Pearl Booker of Bellevue, Texas and two grandchildren._
