Martha
Feb 5, 1921 - July 4, 2015

Martha Hamlin, age 94, of Euless, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015, in Bedford.

She was born in the old southern roots of Electra Texas, in 1921, to John David Stansel and Lela Willis Dutton Stansel. In August 31, 1940, she married George McIlroy and together they had 3 girls- Ann, Jorja and Jo. The girls were the axis of her life. They were the center from which all things revolved. When George preceded her in death on November 6, 1956, she pressed on out of necessity but also, because that’s the kind of woman she was- a harbinger of grit and strength.

On November 15, 1959, the Lord joined her in marriage to Fred Hamlin, who loved her girls just as much as he loved her. Fred preceded her in death on October 9, 1999.

Martha was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Lodge in Electra and Iowa Park. Martha was a pioneer. She was a working woman her whole life. She could stand in storms. But when the wind did not blow her way, she adjusted her sails. She opened her own beauty shop in the 1960s and bought the family car, a black 57 Ford. Martha had lifelong friends and was a woman of deep roots.

Martha is survived by her children; Ann Coulon, Jorja Pool and Jo Logue; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, A.D. Stansel and John Ed Stansel one sister, Inez Moeller and one granddog, Daisy.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Aulds Funeral Home in Electra. Interment will follow at Electra Memorial Park.

The family requests memorial contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. For online condolences please visit www.mulkeymason.com._
