An automobile accident Thursday afternoon took the lives of Lee Ann Hardgrove, 17-month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Hardgrove, and the baby's maternal grandmother, Mrs. Zora Cunningham, 56, who were passengers riding with Mrs. Bobby Hardgrove.

The accident apparently was caused when the coupe driven by Mrs. Hardgrove, 23, swerved on the Kamay-Wichita Falls Highway, striking the concrete wall of an irrigation ditch. Highway Patrolman Max Lloyd investigated the accident.

Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Ward of Electra discovered the accident and started toward Wichita Falls with the injured trio. They were met by a Merkle Undertaking Co. ambulance which took them on in to a Wichita Falls hospital. All three of the victims suffered head and shoulder injuries.

The baby died at 6 p.m. Thursday as a result of the injuries and funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Thomas P. Weaver, pastor, Rev. E.H. Coburn, assistant pastor, and Rev. G.C. House of Kamay officiated.

Pallbearers were P.H. Parsons, Jack Byrd, Harry Steincamp Sr., and B.W. Ball, all of Kamay. Interment was in the Electra Cemetery, under the direction of James B. Totten Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cunningham succumbed at 5 a.m. Sunday morning. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 from the Totten Funeral Chapel. Rev. Sam Reed officiated.

Pallbearers were C.N. Perry, Gober Wilkerson, Cliff Anderson, Wayne Ancell, Tollie Wilburn and C.E. Towery. Interment was in the Beaver Creek Cemetery under direction of the James B. Totten Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cunningham was born Jan. 27, 1892 in Electra. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Chilton, pioneer settlers of Wichita County.

Lee Ann is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Hardgrove, grandparents, George Cunningham and Mr. and Mrs. G.P. Hardgrove, Electra; great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Moye, Electra.

Survivors of Mrs. Cunningham include the husband, George Cunningham, Electra; two daughters, Mrs. Bobby Hardgrove (formerly Betty Zoe Cunningham), Electra and Miss Peggy Jo Cunningham, Lubbock; two sisters, Mrs. M.T. Walker, McLean, Texas and Mrs. R.J. Bradley, Seymour; two brothers, E.L. Chilton, Odessa and M.L. Pinkerton, Junction; ten nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bobby Hardgrove was released Saturday from the hospiral._
