Thomas “Ike” Barker, age 89, of Electra, Texas passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013, in Electra.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Lee, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Thomas was born February 12, 1924 in Wilbarger County to Conrad Nicholas Barker and Lennie Caroline Hays.

He and Bubbles Rawle were married February 8, 1942 in Frederick, Oklahoma.

“Ike” was a farmer until the 1950’s. Then he was employed at Natco in Electra for twenty-six years and retired in 1986.

He enjoyed roping, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a coach for the Connie Mack League for several years and took his team to state competition. Ike delivered meals on wheels for many years. He was a member of he First United Methodist Church and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife, Zelda “Bubbles” Barker of Electra; four sons, Gary Barker and wife, Sharon and Wendell Barker all of Holliday; Don Barker and wife, Sue of Whitesboro, Texas and Dale Barker and wife, Shirley of Duncan, Oklahoma; four brothers, Jimmy Barker and wife, Roberta of Duncan, Oklahoma, C.A. Barker and wife, Peggy Jean of Burkburnett, Texas, Weldon Barker and wife, Ana of Dallas, Texas and Alvin Barker and wife. Sue of Humble, Texas; ten grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday August 16, 1974 at the First United Methodist Church for Tommy Elmo Barker, Jr. who was killed here Wednesday in a two truck accident. The Rev. Don Youngblood of Wichita Falls officiated with Bro. Etheredge of Electra assisting. Burial was in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Totten and Son Funeral Home.

Born October 4, 1945 in Vernon, Texas he had been a resident of Electra 17 years. He was a graduate of Electra High School, Ranger Jr. College and attended Midwestern University. Barker was a member of the 4th Infantry Division of the United States Army and a veteran of the Vietnam War. At the time of his death he was employed by Yellow Freight Lines.

Survivors include his wife Linda, a stepson Kyle Rickman of the home, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Barker Sr. of Electra, four brothers, Gary of Iowa Park, Texas, Don of Sherman, Texas, Dale and Wendell both of Duncan, Oklahoma, and grandparents, Mrs. C.N. Barker and Mrs. Patsy Rawle, both of Electra._

Zelda ``Bubbles’’ Barker, age 90, of Electra, Texas, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 in Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Electra with Rev. Bob Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

The family received friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.


Zelda was born January 9, 1926 in Wilbarger County, Texas, to the late Thelbert Earle Rawle and Patsy Estell Bowden Rawle.

She married the love of her life, Thomas ``Ike’’ Barker on February 8, 1942. They were married seventy- one and a half years before he preceded her in death on June 6, 2013.

Bubbles was employed by Sherrill, Crosnoe and Goff Law Firm for eighteen years until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Electra and the Electra Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She delivered Meals on Wheels for several years and volunteered for the Electra Public Library.

Bubbles reared her five sons and was like a second mom to many of their friends. She loved to fish, crochet, do needlepoint, genealogy and watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren in their activities. She was a fabulous cook and her specialty was her chocolate pies.

Survivors include her sons, Gary Barker and wife Sharon of Holliday, Don Barker and wife Sue of Whitesboro, Dale Barker and wife Shirley of Duncan, Oklahoma and Wendell Barker of Holliday; sister, Viola Long of Crowley, Texas; ten grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren and her special family, Kenneth and Diane McAlister of Electra.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Thomas Elmo, Jr. on August 14, 1974; two sisters, Lorine Hardin and Marie Chester; and four brothers, Cecil, Sanford, Richard and Charlie Rawle.

The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church, 1107 South Bailey, Electra, Texas or St. Jude Childrens Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
