Mrs. Edwards was born December 19, 1916 in Campbell (Hunt County), Texas to Reliegh Alec Houston White and Mattie Lankford Polk.
She was a graduate of Crowell High School and attended classes at Hardin-Simmons and Abilene Christian Universities.
She married Robert G. Edwards January 19, 1935 in Crowell. They moved to Eula March 4, 1936 from Crowell.
She was a social worker at the Abilene State School for many years and was a member of the Eula Baptist Church. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Texas and Callahan County Historical Associations, the Eula Home Demonstration Club, a club leader for Eula 4-H, a member of the Eula Sunshine Circle, and a member of the Writer's Guild in Abilene. She started the Oleta Edwards (OE) Quilting Club in Eula and went on four mission trips for the Southern Baptist.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by one daughter, Virginia Ann Edwards Harris and husband William of Colorado Springs; three sisters, Gayola Luciano of Lodi, New Jersey, Sandye Reagan of Hobart, Oklahoma and Jeanie Reagan of Irving; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters and a son-in-law, Roberta Lee and Doyle Dean Hughes and Mary Jane Edwards; and four brothers, Orville, Clifford, Tom and Henry White
