Wesley Rogers passed away Friday, January 27, at his home in Simms, Texas. He was 88. Wesley was born November 26, 1928, in Abilene, Texas to Robert Ray Rogers and Melissa Grace Brown Rogers.
On September 27, 1949, he was married to Bobbie Townsend in Big Springs, Texas. Wesley was retired from Texas & Pacific Railroad, where he worked as a Trainman for over 35 years. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in WWII, served in the United States Marines Reserves and was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, A.J. Randall; three brothers, Billy, Jerry and John Rogers; a granddaughter, Toy Murphy; and a grandson, Jim Bob Murphy.
Wesley is survived by his wife, Bobbie Townsend Rogers of Simms, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Danna and Steve Blount of Summit, New York; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kelley Rogers of Annapolis, Maryland and Bo and Lisa Rogers of Simms, Texas; four grandchildren, Lauren and Whitt Rogers, Scott Bryan and Shane Randall; two great grandchildren, Brock and Sam Bradshaw; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, TX with Rev. Carl Teel officiating. Interment will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery in Simms, Texas.
