ABILENE, TX -- Mozelle Davis Wende, 92, formerly of Cisco, died Sunday, March 7, 2010, in Abilene.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. today in West End Cemetery in Stephenville. Services under direction of Stephenville Funeral Home.
Mozelle was born August 14, 1917 in Morgan Mill to the late David Oscar and Minner Lee Cole Davis. She married Cecil Olen Watson in 1941 in Marfa, while he was a test pilot, and she was a parachute packer. After his death in 1951, she married Willie Henry (Bill) Wende in 1955 where they farmed south of Cisco. He also preceded her in death in 1992. Mozelle graduated from Morgan Mill High School, attended Tarleton State University and received her LVN in nursing from Cisco Jr. College. She was a member of the Lutheran Church in Cisco. Mozelle worked in the Eastland County Clerks office, and as a LVN worked in several nursing homes and hospitals in Cisco, Eastland, Baird and Abilene. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Stephenville for over 70 years.
She is survived by her son, David Gary and wife Joy Hathorn Watson of Abilene; two granddaughters, Martha Fair Watson and husband Colby Stone of Oklahoma City, OK and Dr. Anne Alyse Watson of Tahlequah, OK; two great-grandchildren, Alexander Thomas Stone and Avery Anne Stone of Oklahoma City, OK; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by six sisters, Pauline Bobo, Velma Davis, Thelma Cason, Dot Tunnel, Alice Strother, and Cleo Bently, and by a brother W.C. Davis.
