A Civil War veteran, who moved his family to Hoawrd Valley, Jack County, Texas before it consolidated with Degress Comunity and was named Cundiff.
Josiah and all ten of his brothers served in the Civil War and returned home without a scratch.
Josiah's wife Cynthia was then Texas Governor Lanham's cousin.
