GERALD THOMAS
Mr. Gerald E. Thomas passed away Sunday, August 7, 2011 at his home in Simms, Texas. He was 85.
Gerald was born May 27, 1926, in Simms, Texas, to Saunders and Grace Byrd Thomas. He was a retired welder from Red River Army Depot. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Simms, Texas, where he served as Deacon and a Life Member of Dalby Springs Masonic Lodge #684.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Saunders Mayfield Thomas, Jr., George W. Thomas and Arthur Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Jo Thomas of Simms, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald Dan and Jeanette Thomas of Simms, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann and Nick Dyke of Simms, Texas; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter R. and Priscilla Thomas of Jefferson, Texas, Bobby R. and Velda Thomas of Simms, Texas and John B. and Jimmie Thomas of New Boston, Texas; a sister, Betty J. Hatley of Charlotte, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Michael S. Thomas, Brandon Thomas, Daniel Rogers and Threesa Sadler; six great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Sidney and Sam Sadler and Ayla, Chloe Ann, and Christopher Thomas and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Bates Family Funeral Home with Rev. Tracy Wilkes and Rev. Steve Minter officiating. Interment will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery in Simms, Texas.
Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Bates Family Funeral Home.
