SANGER — Services for Evans "Jack" Wagner, 66, of Sanger, are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Clement-Keel Chapel with Rev. J.W. Gilbert of Dierks, Ark., officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Clement-Keel Funeral Home of Gainesville.

Mr. Wagner died Aug. 2, 2008, at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.

He was born July 17, 1942, in Center Point, Ark., to George and Ola Edna (Evans) Wagner. On Oct. 27, 1961, he married Harlette Mitchell in Dierks, Ark. He was a member of the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks, Ark. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Dierks, Ark. He was retired from Denton County after 19 years of service as a road superintendent and loved to fish.

Survivors include his wife, Harlette Wagner; son, Gary Wagner; daughter and son-in-law, Deena and Brad Hughes; two grandsons, Eric Janes and Chad Janes and granddaughter, Jordan Hughes; sisters and brother-in-law, Sarah McKenzie and Wanda and Arnold McBride; numerous cousins; three nieces; and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers are Danny Brumley, James Gibbs, Ricky Marriott, Brad McKenzie, Gerald Moore and Benny Perry.

Honorary pallbearers are Clay McKenzie and Charles Brumley.


Harlette was born on May 28, 1944 and passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018. Harlette was a resident of Dierks, Arkansas at the time of passing.
