Her first marriage was to Clinton William Martindale. They had a son and a daughter.
Her second marriage was to Jack Elbert Shugart. No issue.

OBITUARY

Betty Sue Shugart passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 at her residence at the age of eighty-eight. She was born in Jimtown, Oklahoma on April 16, 1929, to Thomas Jefferson Powell and Velma (Jones) Powell. She married jack E. Shugart September 22, 1975 in Gainesville, Texas, who preceded her in death in 1988. Betty was made of tough, quality character. She faced many crises in her life, mostly alone. Today the crisis is past, she's home safe, no doubts or fears, only peace.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 17th at Meador Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Duke Dowling officiating. A visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. at Meador Funeral Home in Gainesville. Pall bearers are Aaron Martindale, Charles Martindale, Kevin Graves, Mike Hines, Chris Mozingo and Shane Diers.

Survivors include her son, Eddy Martindale and wife Shirley of Gainesville, Texas; daughter Alice Faye Brown of Grapeland, Texas; grandchildren, Angie Lorbek, Kristie Williams, Michalle Graves, Tammy McKnight and Charles Martindale; 8 great-grandchildren, Kevin Graves, Paige Hall, Britney Lorbek, Michael Lorbek, Courtney Davis, Aaron Martindale, Denise Vasquez, and April Williams; 9 great-great-grandchildren; sister Jean Caldwell of Denton, Texas; brother Tommy Powell of Westminster, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Velma Powell; 4 brothers; 3 sisters; 1 grandson and 2 twin great-granddaughters.
