RICHMOND — Mary Ann Fletcher, 88, of Richmond, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013.
Mary Ann was born to the late Horace and Jewell Graham in Red Rock, Okla., on Sept. 26, 1924.
She was married to Shelby Fletcher on June 6, 1947, in Gainesville. To this marriage were born two children, Jim and Susan.
Mary Ann received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Southeastern State College in Durant, Okla., and spent her post college years teaching in Thackerville, Okla., and Gainesville public schools. Once she and Shelby had children, she retired from teaching and devoted her time to raising and supporting her family. She was interested in sewing, sports (especially the Houston Astros and Rockets), collectibles and reading. She was baptized at Blue Lake in Love County, Okla., as a young woman, and was a lifetime Christian, attending the Church of Christ in Gainesville, Houston and Richmond. Active in church work and serving Christ, Mary Ann taught Sunday school at Gainesville and in Houston, and in her senior years was a member of the 39ers group in Houston.
Mary Ann was preceded in in death by her husband, Shelby Fletcher; her parents, Horace and Jewell Graham; and brother, Jack Graham.
She is survived by daughter, Susan Jones and her husband David Jones of Richmond and son Jim Fletcher and his wife Cindy Fletcher of Friendswood; grandchildren, Kayla Jones, Derek Jones and Molly Fletcher; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families and a host of friends.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville with minister Joe Ed Furr officiating.
