Funeral services for Joseph Weldon Cason, 84, of Gainesville are set for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 with Brother Bill Flucher officiating, assisted by Mr. Billy Frank Lovejoy.

Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Clement-Keel Funeral Home.

Mr. Joe W. Cason died Jan. 16, 2010 at Gainesville Health and Rehabilitation.

Joseph Weldon Cason was born in Collinsville on Oct. 30, 1925 to the late Jesse and Odessa Cason and graduated Muenster in 1943. Joe enlisted in the United States Navy on Dec. 7, 1943 where he then served as a gunners mate during World War II. While serving, he toured Australia, India, Philippines and New Guinea. Joe was awarded the W.W. II Victory Metal ETO, Philippine Campaign Medal and Asiatic and Pacific Campaign medals. Joe's tour of duty ended May 7, 1946.

He married Della Mae Moore Jan. 7, 1947, in Bulcher. Joe worked for the Santa Fe Rail Road and in 1950 he began work for J.R. and Adam Seitz Oil Co. Joe and Delia had already started expanding their little family in 1948 when they were blessed with their first of three children the late Danny Carson, Nancy Cason Kirk in 1952, and in 1955 they were blessed with their youngest child, Ricky Cason. In 1954 Joe and his family began attending Central Baptist Church where they have attended for 55 years. Joe retired from the Seitz Oil Co. after 49 years of service, in 2002, to spend his time with his devoted wife and not so small family. Joe was a loving and gentle husband and father and spiritual leader of his family.

Joe enjoyed devoting all of his free time to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Going fishing with his family in his bass boat and camping in the camper trailer was something Joe enjoyed while cooking out and watching everyone swim. Sundays were devoted to church and family, Joe enjoyed lunch at he and Della's home after morning services with the entire family where he always made sure to keep up with what everyone was doing and how his grandchildren and later his great-grandchildren were doing at work and school. He enjoyed going on family vacations to Branson. Joe blessed his family with love and compassion.

He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Tracy Kirk; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Denise Cason; special sisters-in-law, Alene Chisam and Pat Schuchert; brother-in-law, Bobby Schuchert; grandchildren, Brett and Gina Cason, Joey and Dawn King, Shauna and Nathan Posey, Angela and James Clem, Ricky Jr. and Jade Cason, Patti Pierce and Krista and Chat White and great-grandchildren, Jordan and Tanner Cason, Baylee and Jules King, Lauren and Audrey Posey, Caitlyn and Riley Clem, Zachary and Zane Pierce and Trent Cason and Katlyn White.

Preceded in death by son, Danny Cason; parents, Jess and Odessa Cason; sister, Nina Parkinson and brother, Sid Cason.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.


Funeral services for Della Mae Cason, 90, of Gainesville, is set for 2:00 PM Friday, September 14, 2018 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Eddy Johnson officiating and Bro. Tyler Bittner assisting. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 6:30 PM.

Della was born on December 21, 1927 in Spanish Fort to John Jay Moore and Flossie Myrtle (Sullivan) Moore. She passed away on September 11, 2018 in Gainesville.

She is survived by her daughter Nancy Kirk and husband Tracy of Gainesville; son Ricky Cason and wife Denise of Mountain Springs; grandchildren Brett Cason and wife Gina, Joey King and wife Dawn, Shauna Posey and husband Nathan, Angela Clem and husband James, Ricky Cason Jr. and wife Jade, Patti Pierce, and Krista White and husband Chad; great-granchildren Jordan Cason, Tanner Cason, Baylee King, Jules King, Lauren Posey, Audrey Posey, Caitlyn Clem, Riley Clem, Zachary Pierce, Zane Pierce, Trent Cason, Katlyn White, Taryn White, Hayes Cason, and Cora Cason. She is also survived by her sister Alene Chisam of Fred; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Della was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph Weldon Cason; son Danny Weldon Cason; brother Jay Moore; brother George Moore; sister Marie Bugg; and sister Pat Schuchert.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
