Funeral service for Dorothy Boland are set for Saturday March 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Eberhart officiating with burial to follow in the Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday March 15, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. til 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Developing breast cancer in 2010, she fought hard and a survivor. She recently became ill, fought hard and went to Heaven peacefully on March 12, 2014 at3:12 p.m. with her family at her bed side.
Dorothy was born on September 13, 1923 in New York City, to John and Anna Reid and was raised in the Bronx New York with her two sisters. Then she met Clarence ( Red ) Boland while he was on leave from the Navy. Married her true love in New York on August 25th 1942 where they raised five children while traveling the world.
Red retired from the army and they moved to Lake Kiowa in 1975 with her two daughters, Pattie and Sandy. She then raised her granddaughter Michelle and continues to have a large family in the Gainesville area. She retired from Southside Daycare Center after 20 years there as the cook for all the children. Many know her and love her as she was so special. Member of the Family Life Church in Gainesville where she loved to worship the Lord.
When she had moved from her home in Kiowa to an assisted living in Sherman, TX she enjoyed visits from friends and family. She also loved playing Bingo every day! She loved to shop anytime and anywhere. She enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks.
Dorothy is survived by sons and spouses Robert and Barbara Boland of Sherman, Tx, Richard and Sharon Boland of Gibolo, Tx, Donny and Wanda Boland of Kildare, Tx daughters and spouses Pattie and Will Allen of Gainesville and Sandy and Jack Richardson of Lake Kiowa, grandchildren Jennifer Olin and her husband Tim, Eric Boland, Mark Boland and his wife Melissa, Michelle Boland, Stephanie Allen, Bailey Allen, Derek Richardson, Sara Johnson and Dylan Johnson and eleven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Derek Richardson, Christian Boland Dylan Johnson Eric Boland Mark Boland and Ben Olin. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Ann Morse and Alicia Nacovich.
