Services for Pete Prescher, 90, of Gainesville, are set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Don Brennan, O.S.A., officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.

Mr. Prescher died June 14, 2004, at Gainesville Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 17, 1914, in Muenster to Joseph and Anna Streng Prescher. On April 22, 1936, he married Agnes Sicking in Scotland, Texas. Pete was a dairy farmer and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and had served on the board of directors of the Red River Farm Co-op for 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes Prescher of Gainesville; son, David Prescher of Gainesville; daughter-in-law, Helen Prescher of Gainesville; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Christine Sicking of Benton, Ark., Martha Hacker of Gainesville and Angie Steadman of Richardson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Raymond Prescher on June 15, 1996, and Lloyd Prescher on June 3, 2004; daughters-in-law, Frankie Jo and Stephonie Prescher; sisters, Elizabeth Krahl, Agatha Mayes and Lucy Oehler; and brothers, Leo, Jake, Jody, Paul, Alfons, Frank and Felix Prescher.

Pallbearers are Ronnie Prescher, Michelle Prescher, Connie Prescher-Reiter, and Brett, Bart and Brian Prescher.


Funeral Mass for Agnes Prescher, 93, of Gainesville is set for Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gainesville, with Rev. Jeremy Myers officiating.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mrs. Prescher went to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 13, 2010 in Denton.

Agnes was born Dec. 13, 1916 in Muenster to August and Augusta Flies Sicking. Agnes married Pete Prescher on April 22, 1936 in Scotland. She was a loving wife and mother who worked hard to keep the house clean and good hot meals on the table. She loved to cook and bake particularly the best homemade bread. Agnes loved to can fruit and vegetables from the garden, sew and as a dairy farmers wife, which was not an easy thing, she packed our lunches for when we went into the field. We always had plenty to eat and when we got home no matter what time it was, there was always a hot meal on the table. She raised three boys, which is not an easy task, but she always managed to keep the peace in the family. She prayed a lot and loved to go to church, even when she did not feel well, she still wanted to go. She always had time to help you out or talk if you needed help.

Agnes is survived by her son, David Prescher of Gainesville; grandchildren, Connie Reiter, Ronnie Prescher, Michelle Cheaney, Monica Prescher, Brett Prescher Bart Prescher, Daine Prescher, Debbie Deyo, Dana Prescher and Brian Prescher; daughter-in-law, Helen Prescher; great-grandchildren, Caylee Cheaney, Cutter Cheaney, Cody Prescher and Aiden Prescher; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-great grandchildren; sisters, Hilda Prescher of Gainesville and Dorothy Buttrill of Fort Worth; brothers, Louis Sicking of Muenster and Victor Sicking of Muenster and numerous nieces and nephews.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Prescher; sons, Raymond Prescher and Lloyd Prescher; daughter-in-law, Frankie Jo Prescher and Stephone Prescher; parents, August and Augusta Flies Sicking; sisters, Annie Hacker, Gertrude Koelzer, Hattie Jetzlberger Zawko, Margaret Rainwater, Marie Ford and Cecillia Perryman and brother, Thomas Sicking.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Connie Reiter, Ronnie Prescher, Monica Prescher, Michelle Cheaney, Bart Prescher and Brian Prescher.

A rosary will be held this evening, Sept. 15, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. with a family visitation to follow from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
