Sammons, William McKinley, 90, of Irving passed away April 30, 2009 Mr. Sammons was born August 16, 1918 in Normanton, GA, he was an accomplished welder for Texlite Sign Company for 27 years, a Staff Sgt in the US Army, and a member of First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years Gracie Kathleen Sammons, son and daughter in law; Joe and Susan Sammons, grandsons; Blake & Logan Sammons, sister; Ernestine Williams, sisters and brothers in law; Bill & Sue Cain, Ruth Smith, Allie Bell Futrell, nephews and nieces; Pat Williams, Jack Hamilton, Andy Warren, Charlie Henderson, Mike Cain, Brian Cain, Shannon Cain, Bobbie Strickland, Frankie Mimbs, James Edward Smith, Rita Deddins, Joan Wernli, Kathleen Mickelson, Virginia Riddle and numerous other family members. Family visitation will be Friday May 1, 2009 from 6-7 PM at Brown's Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 5 PM Saturday May 2, 2009 at Brown's Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Turner officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:30 PM Sunday May 3, 2009 at Fair View Cemetery in Gainesville, TX.
Gracie Kathleen Sammons, 92, a longtime Irving resident, passed away on March 16, 2015. She was born on November 7, 1922 in Woodbine, Texas to Hubert Cain and Tabitha Norris Cain.
She enjoyed a long career as the Head of Quality Control for Texas Instruments. Family and church were very important to Kathleen and she was an actively involved member of the First United Methodist Church in Irving. She also loved working in her yard tending roses and learning to use the IPad that connected her to family.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Sammons.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at First United Methodist Church followed by interment in Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas.
