Doyle entered the Army in 1942. After training in Texas, Florida, and Californiahe served in France, England, Belgium, Holland, and Germany
He was awarded the Bronze Star,, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, and The Purple Heart. He was wounded in Bastogne, France in 1944, and honorably discharged in 1945.
