Beulah Mae Estes Kniss was born in Knox County, Texas on February 13, 1929 and passed away January 30, 2017. Beulah met Wayne Kniss when he came to Texas and was stationed at Camp Howze. They married on July 30, 1945 and most of their married life was spent in Gainesville. There were married for 59 years. Wayne passed away February 4, 2004.

Beulah worked at Tom Thumb grocery, Mr. M. Grocery Store and Weber Aircraft. When she retired, she and Wayne moved out to “the farm” and raised goats and donkeys.

Beulah’s greatest joy was her grandchildren. She had a special bond with each of them, and they all knew that Granny was on their side. She had an “open door policy” for them and their friends day and night. Her specialty was cooking them a steak when they would come whether it was 10 in the morning or midnight-she catered to them.

She was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist. She was also a charter member of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church. She and Wayne worked with the builders to build the current building.

Beulah married Percy Daryl Kniss in January 2005. Beulah and Daryl enjoyed several trips during their marriage. Their honeymoon was spent on a cruise ship to Mexico. They were part of a Christian women’s group (not many men go on a honeymoon with 46 other women.) Her favorite was the Alaska cruise. Beulah and Daryl alternated their life between Texas and Michigan. During the six months she lived in Michigan each year she enjoyed the fellowship of Old Mission Peninsula United Methodist Church.

Beulah was a determined and strong woman. She showed strength and courage throughout her life. The last six months of her life she was in various facilities and was proud of the progress she had made of being able to come home for a visit to enjoy a special time with her family at Christmas. Beulah loved watching sports on TV. She often was the winner in football pots. She carried that luck with her the last few years to the casinos. Beulah’s spirit of love lives on in the ones she leaves behind who will miss her greatly.

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Dora Estes, brother, Earl Estes, sister, Reva Jones, husband, Wayne Kniss, nephew Gary Jones.

She is survived by her husband Daryl Kniss; children Kenneth Kniss and wife Wanna, Ronny Kniss and wife Terri, Buddy Kniss, Bonnie Sinning and husband John, Alfred Kniss and Rosie, nephews Gerald Jones and wife Leigh, Joe Bob Jones and wife Mikki; grandchildren Jason Kniss and wife Carolyn, Justin Kniss and wife Carissa, Joshua Kniss and wife Micah, Christopher Kniss and Marlene, Shannon Kniss, Rachel Kniss, Lisa Jones, Kate Jones, Tammy Fox, Tina Terry, Jason Kniss and wife Chelle; great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Jimmie, Olivia, Gavin, Maddisyn, Hogan, Zade, Bella, Wyatt, Caleb, Elijah, Max, Brianna, Hunter, Dawson, Sophia, Brianna.
