Funeral service for Mary Lou Young 79, of Gainesville are set for Saturday March 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Harvey Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Jordon Johnson officating with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday March 29, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Geo. J. Carroll and Son funeral home. Mary Lou passed away on March 28, 2013 in Gainesville.
Mary was born on December 14, 1933 in Gainesville, Texas to Issac Mason and Hallie Evelyn Holder Winters Mary was the oldest of seven children. Mary was a lifelong resident of Gainesville where she graduated from Newsom Daugherty Memorial High School.. She married Charles Young on April 3, 1954 in Gainesville. Mary Lou was a longtime employee of Lone Star Gas. she retired after 30 years of service. Mary Lou was a faithful member of Harvey Street Baptist Church where she played the piano and organ and also sang in the choir. She had a love of music that she passed down to her three sons.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband Charles Young, sons and daughters in law Ronny and Debbie Young of Lake Kiowa, Donny Young of Gainesville and Kenny and Mija Young of Denton, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, brothers Bill Winters of Gainesville, John Winters of Fremont Calif.and sister Martha Bond of Gainesville She.was preceded in death by brothers Jerry Winters, Samuel Winters, sister Phoebe Winters. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
