When Mary Elizabeth Stockstill was born on November 6, 1848, in McMinnville, Tennessee, her father, Thomas, was 23, and her mother, Martha, was 18. She married Henry Clay Darsey on December 5, 1865. They had ten children in 17 years. She died on July 26, 1893, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 44, and was buried in Lockett, Texas.
