Frances Mariah Stephens Camp, 94, died Friday April 7, 2006 at Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.

Mrs. Camp, homemaker, was born June 28, 1911 in Corpus Christi to Charles and Vera Asher Stephens.

The Stephens and Ashers were early settlers of Williamson County, settling in Round Rock in the early 1840s.

Mrs. Camp graduated from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio and attended Incarnate Word College in San Antonio and the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and selected to be a Blue Bonnet Belle.

Mrs. Camp was a former member of the Thursday Reading Club. She loved her garden, family and friends and will be greatly missed.

She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Rockdale.

Mrs. Camp was preceded in death by her husband, Ike Camp of San Gabriel, parents, Charles and Vera Asher Stephens and brother, Charles Stephens, Jr., of San Antonio.

She is survived by son, Charles Hardin Camp of Costa Rica; three daughters, Carole Simank and husband Dennis of San Gabriel, Nancy Jackson and husband Craig of Longview and Mary Frances Gauntt of Longview; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and special friend, Carlotta Lopez.

Mrs. Camp married Ike Camp on Oct. 10, 1936 and lived in San Gabriel until her death.

Pallbearers were Stephen Simank, Hardin Camp, Drew Jackson, Marshall Jackson, Jason Dodson, Ryan Carpenter, Tres Flick and Joe Lopez.

Honorary pallbearer was John Camp Simank.

Graveside rites were conducted by Vicar Anne Matthews and interment followed in historical Locklin Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in her honor to the MARC Center, 1705 Pecos Street, Rockdale, TX 76567 or to the Thursday Reading Club, 915 E. Cameron, Rockdale, TX 76567.
