When General Harry Griffin was born on March 12, 1860, in Morgan, Alabama, his father, James, was 24 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 20. He married Mary Ann Frances "Molly" Lane on December 21, 1881, in Decatur, Alabama. They had nine children in 18 years. He died on August 5, 1939, in Abilene, Texas, at the age of 79, and was buried in Peacock, Texas.
