When Katie Bell Bedwell was born on January 13, 1880, in Texas, her father, John, was 21, and her mother, Martha, was 20. She married George Washington Myers in 1899 in Stonewall, Texas. They had four children during their marriage. She died on October 3, 1955, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 75.
