When Earnest Burkett was born on January 19, 1889, in Kenton, Tennessee, his father, Robert, was 27 and his mother, Martha, was 21. He married Ethel M Bankston and they had two children together. He then married Sarah Jane Clark and they had eight children together. He died on September 16, 1971, in Chillicothe, Texas, at the age of 82, and was buried in Vernon, Texas.
