Geraldine Gerry Aten, 83, of Seminole with be conducted Monday, April 6, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the South Seminole Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Guenther officiating. She passed away Thursday, April 2, in Seminole. Interment will follow in the Gaines County Memorial Cemetery with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole. Gerry was born Sept. 2, 1931, in Haskell, Texas, to Travis and Una Vay Newman. She attended school at Paint Creek and Lamesa. Gerry married Neal Aten on June 21, 1947, in Lamesa, Texas. She had lived in Seminole for 63 years. Gerry was the best Mom and Memaw there ever was, she was a full time wife and mother. She went to work at Seminole National Bank in 1965 and retired after 30 years. Gerry served as a bank officer and was a member of South Seminole Baptist Church since 1953, Gerry was preceded in death by her husband Neal Aten on Nov. 18, 1998. Gerry is survived by one son Ronnie Aten and his wife Carla of Loop, Texas; three daughters Belinda Sample and her husband Chet of Alpine, Texas, Sandra Flowers and her husband Duane of Winnsboro, LA, Deretha Jenkins and her husband Clyde of Amarillo, Texas; nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren; two brothers Ken Ketron of Odessa, Texas, David Ketron of Montcello, Utah. Family and friends visitation will be held Sunday, April 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ratliff Funeral Home in Seminole. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you make donations to Seminole Memorial Hospice or South Seminole Baptist Church.
