When John Lloyd Sr McLarty was born on October 19, 1896, in Thalia, Texas, his father, Samuel, was 40 and his mother, Courtney, was 30. He married Laura Earline Caldwell on December 12, 1924. They had two children during their marriage. He died on June 7, 1961, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 64.
