*Obituary
Barbara Fern Bingham, 81, of Kingsbury, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019 in her home surrounded by loved ones.

Fern was born to John Fisher and Merle Clark Fisher, November 19, 1937, in Lovington, New Mexico. She married John W. “Preacher” Bingham on December 24, 1954, and they lived together in Seminole. Together they raised three children.

She leaves as her legacy three children: Steve Bingham, Greg Bingham, Brad Bingham and his wife Kim Bingham. She also leaves to cherish her memory four grandchildren: Lacee Young, Blaze Bingham, Braidy Bingham, and Kyndal Bingham Stratton. Five great-grandchildren, Nixxon Bingham, Maddoxx Bingham, Brody Bingham, Zaelynn Stratton and Ashlyn Young; step-granddaughters Jessica Magill and Whitney Reid and two siblings Jimmy Fisher and Johnnie Jean Mc-New. Her children remember her as a spitfire who lived life to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by John W. “Preacher” Bingham (husband), John Fisher (father), and Merle Clark Fisher (mother).

Fern was employed with the Farm Service Agency for USDA for over 37 years. She began her work as a teen in the Gaines County Office where she worked for 30 years. In 1987 she became a FSA District Director to one of the largest areas in Texas, covering offices, employees and farmers from Levelland to El Paso. Her strong work ethic, intelligence and sense of humor led these employees and producers until her retirement in 1994. Her retirement dreams of spending time in Ruidoso with her husband were cut short in the spring of 1995 due to unforeseen circumstances. Fern then became the fulltime caregiver, nurse and companion to her son Steve for the next 24 years. Never complaining or giving up, that same work ethic and personal strength carried her through these years. She was an inspiration and mentor to all those she worked with.

A gathering of family and friends is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23 at 7 p.m. at Ratliff Funeral Home. The funeral will take place Wednesday, April 24 at 11 a.m. at M.S. Doss Community Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Hope Hospice at https://www.hopehospice.net/donations.
