When Hubert Virgil Simmonds was born on June 8, 1903, in Bell, Texas, his father, Horace, was 36 and his mother, Emma, was 31. He married Pauline Edwards on March 17, 1930, in Comanche, Oklahoma. They had four children during their marriage. He died on April 3, 1957, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 53, and was buried there.
