Meta Stroebel died of natural causes at her home Wednesday morning in Cisco. She was 92. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cisco. Burial will be in Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Kimbrough Funeral Home in Cisco.

She was born to Carl A. and Hulda Weiser on Aug. 23, 1917, in Copperas Cove and they moved to south of Cisco when she was a child. She had two sisters and three brothers and her family engaged in farming. She attended Christ Lutheran Church grammar school in the area. She was baptized in 1917 at Immanual Lutheran Church north of Copperas Cove and was confirmed on March 29, 1931, at Christ Lutheran Church near Cisco.

She married A.E. Stroebel on Nov. 2, 1947, in Christ Lutheran Church. Her husband was also from Cisco and worked in oilfield maintenance for Humble Oil and Refining Co. They lived first in Pampa and then in Bronte. She worked in a number of vocations, including more than 10 years as a nurse's aide in Bronte.

In 1975, after 31 years of service, A.E. Stroebel retired from what had become Exxon and they moved back to Cisco. They bought the farm south of Cisco where Meta Stroebel grew up and they raised cattle. A.E. Stroebel died on April 12, 2003.

She was preceded in death by her husband and an infant daughter; by three brothers, Ben Weiser of Cross Plains, the Rev. Rudolf Weiser of Seaside, Ore., and Norman Weiser of Cisco; and by one sister, Lilian Bowen of San Angelo.

Survivors include three children, son Gary Stroebel and his wife Jeanne of Augusta, Ga.; son Kenneth Stroebel and wife Tamara of San Antonio; and daughter Sandra Owen and husband Dennis of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Susan Megison and her husband Michael of Birmingham, Ala., and Paul Stroebel of Asheville, N.C.; a sister, Ruth Stroebel of Rising Star; and many nieces and nephews.
