When Marcus Taylor Belew was born on October 27, 1885, in Wise, Texas, his father, William, was 37 and his mother, Mary, was 31. He married Alice January Harris on December 10, 1908, in Ponder, Texas. They had six children in 12 years. He died on May 16, 1956, at the age of 70, and was buried in Vernon, Texas.
