When George Wallis Scales was born on November 20, 1890, in Lexington, Texas, his father, Nathaniel, was 46 and his mother, Nancy, was 44. He married Velma Sally Oliver on October 18, 1914, in Williamson, Texas. They had three children during their marriage. He died on September 29, 1959, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 68.
