When Cary Anderson Owens was born on August 5, 1884, in Keener, Alabama, his father, John, was 28 and his mother, Martha, was 27. He married Mandy Plumer Adams on February 3, 1907, in Etowah, Alabama. They had three children during their marriage. He died on May 20, 1974, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 89, and was buried there.
