Mrs. Cora Louise BARNES, long time resident of the North Panhandle, passed away at a Perryton hospital on June 16. She had been in failing health for about a year, being confined to the hospital for some time. Funeral services were held Friday in the school auditorium at Darrouzett, with Rev. C. T. Jackson, pastor of the Darrouzett Methodist church in charge.
Interment was in the Lipscomb cemetery.
Mrs. Cora Louse Strauss BARNES was born in Chicago, Ill., on July 14, 1869 and died at Perryton, Texas on June 16, 1948 at the age of 78 years, 11 months and two days. She came to Oklahoma in 1886 and on March 28,1888 was married to James R. BARNES, who preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1935.
To this union was born two sons, Fred R. BARNES, who preceded her in death May 2, 1923, and Thomas George BARNES, who died on Feb. 27, 1947.
Other survivors are one sister, Mrs. E. M. DANCE of Lowell, Ark., one grandson, J. R. BARNES of Darrouzett, two great-granddaughters, Nancy BARNES and Joe Ann VANNATTA.
