When Thomas Luther Ward was born on December 12, 1900, in Houston, Texas, his father, Thornton, was 21 and his mother, Mary, was 23. He married Alma Estella Tole on December 25, 1919, in Thalia, Texas. They had nine children in 13 years. He died on July 3, 1992, in Iowa Park, Texas, at the age of 91, and was buried in Vernon, Texas.
