Lipscomb Pioneer Dead

William R. Hill Buried Sunday At Lipscomb; in Panhandle Nearly 50 Years

William Robertson (sic) Hill, aged pioneer rancher of Lipscomb county, died at Shattuck, Okla., hospital Thursday after an operation in which his left leg was removed.
Mr. Hill had been ill several weeks with a disease of the foot which became so severely infected that the amputation was necessary.
Mr. Hill lived in the Panhandle 45 years. He settled first in Hall County, near Memphis, coming there from Atlanta, Georgia. In 1901 he came to Lipscomb county, locating north of Lipscomb. Seven years ago he retired from active ranch life and moved to Darrouzett. Mr. Hill was 82 years old at the time of his death.
Besides other relatives, nine children survive him. They are, Mrs. W. H. (Mattie) Porter of Tempe, Arizona; Will Hill, Amarillo; Mrs. Henry (Lena) Stephenson Dalhart; Clint and Bill Hill of Canadian; Mrs. Ross (Maud) Paine and Mrs. John (Ella) Paine of Booker; W. L. Hill of Lipscomb; and Miss Hattie (should be Mittie) Hill of Darrouzett.
Funeral and burial services were held at Lipscomb Cemetery, Sunday.
