When Newman K Hughes was born on April 12, 1904, in Odell, Texas, his father, Allen, was 33 and his mother, Clara, was 30. He married Mary Victory Dockery on June 6, 1926, in Vernon, Texas. They had two children during their marriage. He died on July 13, 1983, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 79.
