Beloved Wife Cherished Mom
March 11, 1917- March 19, 2005

*Obituary
Justine "Kay" Bohls was born March 11, 1917, in Larrabee, Iowa, to Effie and Charles Kent. Her parents had crossed the ocean from Cornwall, England.

"Kay" lived faithful to God until her death March 19, 2005, in Austin. She was baptized and confirmed her faith in a loving God.

She was Society Editor of the Sioux City Journal when she met a young soldier from Taylor, Texas, during World War II. After Leon Bohls served in Africa and Italy, they were married on December 28, 1945. Her life changed and she moved to Texas and became wife of a rancher and farmer and mom to her four sons.

Kay was very active in the life of St. Paul Lutheran Church, singing in the choir, serving meals, teaching Sunday School and VBS, being a leader in women s groups, and faithful in Bible Study and worship.

She was involved in the community in scouting, PTA, New Century Club, Bridge Club, and she logged many hours as a volunteer at John's Community Hospital. Her thoughtfulness went beyond her family in her cards, letters, phone calls of encouragement, hot meals shared, and a gracious hostess to all who came into her home. All loved to hear her giggle and see her gentle smile.

She couldn't help but be pulled into sports, as she cheered on her favorite, the Texas Longhorns and was always interested in how they were doing. For many years, she attended UT football, basketball and baseball games until health slowed her down; then she turned to television, radio, and even the sports pages to keep up.

She fully lived her life and loved her family, church and community in the context of her faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Marie Gilbert and Phyllis Jean Kent, her brother Art, and granddaughter Sarah.

She is survived by her husband Leon; and her four beloved sons and their families, Kent and wife Joan of Austin, Kirk and wife Vicki of Austin, Randall and wife Nema of Georgetown, and Rodney and wife Susan of Houston; one sister, Muriel Jeanblanc and husband Jean of New Braunfels; sister-in-law, Trude Kent of Hollywood, CA; grandchildren, Amanda Jenkins and husband Tom of Houston, Josh Bohls and wife Liz of Austin, Kathryn Otto of Boulder, CO, Michelle Otto of Smithville, Justin, Ryan, John Tyler, Zachary Bohls of Austin, Gary and Ann Brown of Georgetown, Larry and Sonya Brown of New Braunfels, Meredith and Cameron Bohls of Houston; great- grandchildren, Olivia Jenkins of Houston, Madison and Blane Brown of New Braunfels, Sadie Brown of Georgetown; nieces and nephews and their families.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 610 Fowzer, Taylor, with burial following in Capital Memorial Park Cemetery in Pflugerville.

Special thanks to the care teams of Heatherwilde Assisted Living and Pflugerville Care Center.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lutheran Social Services, the American Cancer Society or the organization of your choice.
