When Joseph Baxter Mann was born on June 2, 1898, in Winslow, Arkansas, his father, Edgar, was 19 and his mother, Maud, was 18. He married Maggie Almeda Tomlinson on June 30, 1917, in Washington, Arkansas. They had three children during their marriage. He died in January 1957 in Lee, Arkansas, at the age of 58.
