Kelley Obituary
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Higgins Tuesday afternoon, 2:30 o'clock for Mrs. J. W. KELLEY, who died at her home in Higgins Saturday afternoon after a lingering illness. Mrs. KELLEY was 82 years of age.
Mrs. KELLEY and her husband came to the Panhandle in 1886 and settled on Second Creek in Lipscomb County where they pioneered in the ranching and cattle industry. They moved to Higgins from the ranch in 1909. Mr. KELLEY died here in May 1934.
Children surviving are R. T. "Cap" KELLEY, Lipscomb; Mrs. Raymond WINSETT, Galveston; Mrs. Gerald SIMPSON, McAllen, and Mrs. Walter BERRY of Higgins.
Those attending the services from Perryton were Mr. and Mrs. Val McLanahan, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver King, and Billy Lou, Mr. and Mrs. Bill McLanahan, Mr. and Mrs. Del Taliaferro, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Lance, June and Joyce, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hergert, Mrs. Aldon Bell, Mrs. Byron Pletcher and Mrs. Edna Watson.
