When Virgil Levi Cole was born on November 3, 1902, his father, Edward, was 26 and his mother, Ruth, was 16. He married Thula Iva Eaves on August 24, 1924, in Wilbarger, Texas. They had two children during their marriage. He died on May 2, 1973, in Electra, Texas, at the age of 70, and was buried in Vernon, Texas.
