When Werner Herman Gfeller was born on October 6, 1896, in Taylor, Texas, his father, David, was 34 and his mother, Elleza, was 31. He married Hilda Forester in 1917 in Wilbarger, Texas. They had four children during their marriage. He died on April 4, 1960, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 63, and was buried there.
