When James Hamilton Todd was born on May 9, 1900, in Trenton, Texas, his father, Luther, was 33 and his mother, Clara, was 26. He married Beatrice Marvin Lewis on December 23, 1922. They had three children during their marriage. He died on May 15, 1978, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 78, and was buried there.
