When Shelby B. Box was born on May 6, 1886, in Texas, his father, Rolen, was 26 and his mother, Emma, was 25. He married Zelma Irene Tucker on October 11, 1908, in Wilbarger, Texas. They had three children during their marriage. He died on October 16, 1960, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 74.
