Roy G Cassas, age 78, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at his home in Canyon, Texas.
Celebration of his life will be 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Sendero de la Cruz/ Pathway to the Cross in Seagraves with Pastor Ovidio Martinez, Sr officiating and Pastor Ovidio Martinez, Jr assisting. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery in Seagraves. Personal services have been entrusted to Mark A Jones Funeral Directors of Seagraves.
Roy was born on September 15, 1936 to Merced and Enriqueta Cassas in Yorktown, Texas. He met and married, the love of his life, Lupe Rubio on October 24, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas. Together they moved to the Seagraves Community in 1958. She preceded him in death after 41 years of marriage, on June 2, 1999.
Mr. Cassas has been a member of Sendero de la Cruz/ Pathways to the Cross since the early 1960’s. He was a very faithful and committed member. Roy served as the Commander for the Royal Rangers for 20 years; Trustee of the Church of 10 Years; Secretary/ Treasurer of the Men’s Department for 3 terms and played his guitar with the Music Ministry.
His family remembers how much he loved to do woodworking. He was so good at it. Roy also enjoyed camping and he was a jack-of-all-trades.
Those left to cherish his memories are 1 son: Roy Dale Cassas and wife Brenda of Grapevine; 1 daughter: D’Ann (Misty) Pinkerton and husband Mark of Canyon; 3 nephews: Bruno Joe Lira and wife Mary of Papalote, David Lira and wife Mary of Georgetown and Johnny Lucia and wife Elida of Lubbock and 2 nieces: Toni Garcia and husband Robert of Crosby and Carol Martinez and husband Mark of San Antonio.
He also was blessed with 5 Grandchildren: Michael Cassas and wife Aubrey of Corinth, Laina Bueno and husband Ricky of Seagraves, Taylor Cassas and Andrea Cassas of Grapevine and Mark Douglas Pinkerton of Canyon; 6 Great Grandchildren: Avery, Kenzi, Jaida, Jazlin, MJ and Presley Lynn.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister: Carolina Ramirez.
Family request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Sendero de la Cruz/ Pathways to the Cross Church, PO Box 998, Seagraves, Texas 79359.
