Hassie Lawson Streit passed away July 2, 1969 in Lawton, Oklahoma. A retired school teacher, Mrs. Streit was born in Benton, Tennessee to Mr. and Mrs. J.N. Lawson, pioneer residents of the Tolbert Community. She married Luther Streit and he preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Ben Ansley of Lawton, Oklahoma; 3 sisters, Mrs. B.C. Robertson and Mrs. R.A. Rutledge of Vernon and Mrs. Wilbur Farley of Amarillo; 3 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Hassie Streit was born in 1891 in Benton, Tennessee. She died on July 2, 1969, in Lawton, Oklahoma, at the age of 78, and was buried in Vernon, Texas.

When Luther Godfrey Streit was born on December 29, 1893, in Vernon, Texas, his father, Godfrey/Gottfreid, was 23 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 17. He had one brother and one sister. He died on October 6, 1956, in Chillicothe, Texas, at the age of 62, and was buried in his hometown.
