Dr. Clarence E. Peters, 76, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, April 13, 2004. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 16, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Dave Ring, pastor, officiating.
He was born on June 6, 1927, in Vernon, Texas and married Grace Mason on October 31, 1948 in Vernon, Texas. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2001.
Dr. Peters came to Big Spring in 1969 and operated his dental office from 1969 until 2001 when he retired. He and Grace owned C & G Quick Stop for 17 years. He was a wonderful husband and father, a loving grandfather and a good friend. He enjoyed golfing and fishing.
He attended the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas Dental School in Houston. He served in the Army Airborne during World War II and at one time he served in McArthur's Color Guard. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Texas Dental Association, a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Big Spring Country Club.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Mary Jo Peters and Dr. Mark and Keyea Peters all of Conroe; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth and Tom Michaelis of Waco; seven grandchildren, Kevin Dean of Ruidoso, New Mexico, Kris Coates and wife, Alissa, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Derek Michaelis and wife, Shannon, of Houston, Ryan Michaelis of Waco, Frank Mason Peters, Kailey Peters and Joseph Peters all of Conroe; two sisters, Lorena Childress of Vernon and Gerelone Smith of Abilene; one sister-in-law, Mary E. Elliott of Houston and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers and his parents. The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 8008 Slide Road, Lubbock, Texas 79424.
